		BIOGRAPHY
Links: HOME UESTC CCSE		Dr. Liu received his B.S. degree in Mechanics from the Xi’an Jiao Tong University, Xi’an, China, in 1995, his M.S. degree in Automatics from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, in 2000, and his PhD degree in Computer Science from UESTC in 2007. Now, he is an associate professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, UESTC, Chengdu, China. His research interests include (1) Theory and applications of neural networks, including supervised, unsupervised or semi-supervised learning algorithms, especially in Self-organizing Feature Map, Principal/Minor and Independent Component Analysis, Support Vector Machine, Neural Gas Networks, etc., and their applications in classification, clustering analysis and data mining, (2) Pattern recognition, especially in image and video processing, (3) Information security in virus/intrusion detection system, and (4) Software engineering.
